Home at last, even with Air Force One delaying my take-off; from sister's text message she got home smoothly as well. I'm home watching the men's final! I am playing tennis tomorrow at 9am, oh god, but must straighten house before cleaners come. I know what you're thinking but if they can't find the floor how are they to clean it?! I'm afraid to ask "what's for dinner" because I think they'll turn to me for the answer. Will post some of our tennis pics when I get settled.

So everything got screwed up with the rain. Saturday started out cloudy and just got worse as the day went on. We spent around six hours sitting in the rain waiting for tennis and finally gave up around 6pm. Ended up seeing the Serena/Kim debacle on the tube snug and cozy in our beds. Today we saw the men's semis and the ladies final and got in around midnight. I don't know how I'm ever going to get back to my ol' routine, I don't think anyone at home will keep me company until one in the morning!

Yesterday we had tix to the night session, which was suspended due to rain eventually. The morning started off on a bright note. We had intended to take " The Beast," a thirty minute cruise on a high speed boat in New York harbor. The hotel sent us over to the pier in their Bentley, only "The Beast" was not running due to mechanical problems. We then had to make our way back on foot from 42nd & 12th to 55th & 5th, oy vey! While on route we diverted to Petrossian's for lunch then made our way back to hotel before tennis. It was a windy, cold, and wet night.
Today we're waiting out the weather and whether we head to the tennis center. Tonight we have tix to a new show that is in previews. "A Steady Rain" with Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman....ok so you can be jealous now.

So far today it has been shopping, lunch, and more shopping. We haven't actually done that much in purchasing just a lot of window shopping. Tonite it's Le Bernardin and "God of Carnage."
Le Bernardin was execellent and "God of Carnage" was a wonderful play; showing the dichotomy of "our" public vs private personas.

Yesterday was a tennis day. We blew off the night session after it became to cold.
Today was a spa day and very nice if I say so myself. Tonight we're off to Artisanal for dinner.

Another great day. We went to see "39 Steps", a show that spoofs Hitchcock. Very well done, a cast of four play an array of characters, creative staging in a cozy theatre (Helen Hayes). I heartily recommend the show if you find yourself in Manhattan. We then had a bathroom break at the Marriott Marquis, a convenient place to pick up a taxi. Headed over to 30th and East River to The Water Club. We were very early for our dinner reservation so we went up top to the Crow's Nest bar and had a few mojitos. The Water Club is owned by the same people who own the River Cafe in Brooklyn. We had an excellent meal and the view is not bad to boot. Early night tonight to rest our weary bones and off to tennis tomorrow.

Another long night of tennis. Made it back to hotel around 2am, witnessed mild street altercation between drunks on the way! We had a lovely day in the city with Izzy & Zoe, smooth build a bear visit, saw their daddy's office, had lunch at the Landmarc in the Time Warner Building. Soon they will be joining us for afternoon high tea! It was a nice visit with the parental units as well! I am beginning to wake up because sis insists I do, after all we need to be at the theatre in 3 hours for the matinee.

New York here we are. Arrival was uneventful, something we strive for. Yesterday was our first full day at the US Open. It was a glorious day at the tennis center. The first women's match, Dementieva/Oudin, went on for almost three hours, backing up all the matches on Ashe court. The night session didn't start until 9pm and ended just after midnight. I'm not sure how I ever managed going to bed at 2am and getting up at 8am, I guess it was easier in my youth! Thanks to a grande from Starbucks my eyes seem to be open. Today we're off to Build a Bear with Izzy & Zoe, their parents in tow, and lunch. Tonight we have tickets for the night tennis, hopefully it will start at the normal time.
